Recent Grant Awards July to October 2020

Our original grants deadline was June 2020, but we extended the deadline to September 2020 to give those struggling to get their applications together in these socially distanced times. After these two deadline total grants awarded was £13,980.

The original June deadline saw us award two grants in July ;

To Wessex Film and Sound Archives £2980 for a two year project ‘Community archives; Making History; Making Movies, WFSA had already successfully bid for £12.185 from the British Film Institute. This is a contemporary collecting project which will cover the corona virus period. Read more about it HERE

To Ropley History Network and Archive (set up under the Ropley Society)  £500 to repackage their village archive into conservation grade material to ensure its survival for future generations. Read more about it HERE

The extended deadline of September saw a further two grants awarded in October 2020To Petersfield Museums Ltd £10,000 this is the largest ever conservation grant we have made. This is for the conservation of the Don Eades photographic negative collection 1962-1987, some 107,000 individual items featuring local events and major changes in the area. The whole project cost is £21418 and they will fundraise for the additional money needed. Read more about it HERE

At the other end of the financial scale we have awarded £500 to See Southampton (a consortium of Tourist Guides) to support an exhibition on ‘Provisioning the Mayflower’ at the Westgate Tower (adjoins Westgate Hall in Southampton). Read more about it HERE
