Philip Mounstephen has been Bishop of Winchester since October 2023. Prior to that he was Bishop of Truro, looking after the Anglican church across Cornwall, a place of rich and distinctive heritage. Other past posts include being head of one of the Church of England’s international agencies and pastoring churches in Paris and London.
He is delighted to be back in Hampshire, the county of his birth and where he spent three happy formative years as a student at Southampton University.
A key focus in his ministry is to remind people in the Diocese of Winchester of its very rich heritage and cultural roots, as a real inspiration for the future. As such he is delighted to be a Vice President of Hampshire Archives Trust
He lives in Winchester, with Ruth his wife and their dog Noggin
