ABOUT

The Hampshire Archives Trust (HAT) is a member-led charity that works to support and promote Hampshire’s rich archival heritage. We deliver this work by giving grants, through education and events, and developing local history networks.

Preserving memories for the future.

WORKING WITH…

HAT works closely with and supports the Hampshire Record Office in Winchester, the Southampton Archives and the Portsmouth History Centre which between them hold archive collections dating back over 1000 years from across Hampshire.

The Hampshire Archives Trust has worked and continues to work with various local history and archival bodies. Its grants programme has enabled many projects to succeed which otherwise might have foundered due to lack of funding and support.

Since its inception, Hampshire Archives Trust has worked tirelessly to preserve and raise awareness of Hampshire’s rich and diverse documented past, its relevance, fascination and importance.

GET INVOLVED

HAT is a membership charity and we welcome new members and offers of support from anyone with an interest in Hampshire’s remarkable archival heritage.

Our Constitution sets out the objects of the Trust in formal language as ‘The Hampshire Archives Trust supports the preservation and conservation of Hampshire related archives, and promotes them for the benefit of the public and to advance wider knowledge and understanding of archives’.

The Trust is registered with the Charity Commission as no. 294312.
