CAPTAIN SWING IS BACK IN TOWN AS PART OF WINCHESTER HERITAGE OPEN DAYS (HODS) 2025

This year’s HODS theme is Architecture and the CAPTAIN SWING BICENTENARY Team has taken this to heart by staging its event in the United Church, Jewry Street – the very site where the SWING PRISONERS were held during the GRAND ASSIZE of December 1830.
It’s a very mixed programme featuring drama, poetry, language and short lectures on aspects and personalities of the Captain Swing Riots plus reporting on fresh research. It’s another big step forward in telling the story of the Captain Swing Riots in Hampshire.
