Event description: The stylish villa of Townhill Park House was created in the 18th century for the Middleton family. Nathanial Middleton had retired from the East India Company after making a fortune in India, collecting a vast array of Persian Art and having a family with his Indian mistress. His mixed-race wife inherited her fortune from her father’s Jamaican plantation. What followed next was a National scandal, a trial that dominated the tabloids, bankruptcies , elopements and mental collapse.  This talk will cover the rise and fall of the Middleton’s of Townhill Park House
