This is an opportunity to view the results of a £10,000 grant that the Hampshire Archive Trust provided to Petersfield Museum towards the project to preserve the Don Eades archive of 107,000 photographic negatives. Ryan Watts from the Museum is also offering to provide us with a historicalwalking tour around Petersfield, town that started as a market by St. Peter’s Church in the early 12th centuary, enabling the selling of goods in the area around the Church, known as St. Peter’s feld, (feld meaning any open area without trees).

We will gather at the museum entrance at 10:15 and will be taken to an area where Ryan Watts will provide us with a 40 minutes overview of the museum and the Don Eades project. Some photos are on display however the majority of the photographs are maintained on an upper floor. Depending on the numbers of people, the museum staff will bring down a small part of the collection for the visitors to view and talk through the process used to archive them. Visitors then have an opportunity to have some refreshments and an opportunity to look around the rest of the museum. At noon, Ryan will provide a historical walk around Petersfield for an hour to finish the visit.
