We will gather at the entrance of the museum at 1:30 to enable the tour to begin with an introduction to the history of the Bastion prior to concentrating on the contents of the museum consisting of a large collection of items displayed in a long wide gallery. Charles Haskell collected the fascinating items over many years, is very enthusiastic in telling stories of many characters involved with the World War I, including many unusual fascinating personal experiences over the timeline of 1912 to 1920s. There are chairs throughout the gallery for those who are not able to stand for long periods of time. Included in the collection is a reproduction trench system and warship models about 10ft long. Please be aware the museum is open to the public due to the owner’s passion for the subject and is run by volunteers, so doesn’t have facilities normally associated with a museum apart from a portaloo. Due to the reduced facilities, I haven’t arranged any tea/coffee after the tour.
