The Dever Society are to hold a range of activities to celebrate the creation of the community at Micheldever Station resulting from the arrival of the London to Southampton Railway in 1840. Plans include a weekend of events; an exhibition to include material already held in the community with the intention of stimulating interest and gaining more material of historic significance, a talk to launch the weekend with a speaker who will place Andover Road Station in the context of the massive social changes attendant upon the coming of the Railways and a public celebration on Sunday.
The exhibition material will be designed in such a way that it can be transported and mounted in different venues. The Society plan to approach the Record Office; local schools; Willis Museum, and specific interest groups.
