Saving a Portsmouth online resource

MemorialsInPortsmouth

Its every local historian’s nightmare, you and your group lovingly create a website and then the death of a key member means it starts to become unusable, with links failing to work and a risk that the whole site becomes lost. This is what happened here with Monuments and Memorials in Portsmouth and History in Portsmouth websites. The Battle of Southsea group has stepped up and applied for a £500 grant to stablise and update the site with outside technical help, which HAT was happy to support. With the sites stabilised the next stage of the project becomes feasible, that of  building this into a much wider community archiving project. There is still much work to be done to deliver the bigger project but for the moment the sites can remain operating and a good base to develop from

Two website sites will be updated within this grant aided project https://www.historyinportsmouth.co.uk/ and https://memorialsinportsmouth.co.uk/memorials.htm
