The winners of this year’s History competition for schools have been announced.
The winner of the Years 7-9 Group prize is the Gregg School, and the winner of the Years 7-9 Individual prize is Ryan Jacob, also from the Gregg School. The winner of the Years 10-11 Individual prize is Sasha Rawlings of Horndean Technology College, and winner of the Sixth Form Group prize is Sixth Form College Farnborough. The individual winners each won £100 and a winner’s certificate and the group winners won a trophy and £300 in prize money which will be put towards resources for their History Departments.
The winners from the Gregg School and Horndean Technology College were presented with their trophy and certificates by Nigel Atkinson, H.M. Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, at a special ceremony held at Queen Elizabeth II Court in Winchester that was attended by their families and teachers. (The winners from Sixth Form College Farnborough will be presented with their trophy in September.)
Many congratulations to this year’s winners. Many other entrants received Highly Commended certificates! The judges were very impressed with the range and quality of this year’s entries.
The competition for the next academic year will be launched in September 2026. The deadline for entries will be Friday 19th March 2027. More information will be published when the new competition is launched.
