Southampton Archives and Local History and Maritime Library

Major collections on the city of Southampton are located in the Civic Centre, Southampton, SO14 7LY, in two separate, but nearby settings. They comprise the Southampton Archives  and the Southampton Local History and Maritime Library   Together, they provide rich resources for family, local and maritime historians: thousands of images, maps, newspapers, directories, books, film, audio and documents on paper and parchment. While there is some overlap, printed sources are to be found in the Local History and Maritime Library, and original documents in the City Archives.
